For quick and flexible noise measuring, Nitro Consult uses the Brüel & Kjaer 2250-Light sound level meter. The instrument is hand-held and meets the demands of general purpose Class 1 measurements in accordance with the electroacoustical performance standard IEC 61672-1. This specification is essential in order to obtain the extra high measuring precision we need, especially at high and low frequencies (<20 Hz and >4 kHz). To achieve the required precision, the instrument’s calibration is checked with an acoustic calibrator both before and after each measurement. That the sound level meter itself complies with IEC 61672-1 is verified according to fixed routines.

The instrument can measure the equivalent sound level for any period of time, as well as maximal sound level with any weighting filter. During subsequent processing of the measured data, it is also possible to analyze the noise in the one-third octave bands.
